This summer was full of fun travels! Exploring Mexico with my family and all around California. After our trip to the Grand Canyon in April, all summer vacation planning was in full swing.
I started by going on a trip to Puerto Vallarta back in May. Now, this was an amazing trip. But holy cow, it was so humid. Like, SO humid. As long as I was in the pool (or had a few margaritas in my system) I didn’t mind it. But I am a real Arizona native when I say that here, it is a dry heat.
We spent time with family. #MissEMartin loved her first baby vacation and did wonderful! But at one point we all got a yucky stomach bug. That wasn’t fun.. and neither was the banana boat after I woke up the next morning. But the swimming, eating and every other part of this trip was absolutely wonderful. I would absolutely LOVE to go back!
Next up was my trip to San Jose and San Francisco!
I first flew into San Jose to photograph a wedding for Monique Hessler Weddings. We had a bit of a heat wave there that day but it was still so wonderful. A perfect backyard wedding with the sweetest bride and groom. I cannot wait to share their day here! Catherine, the bride, was a bridesmaid in this desert wedding last fall!
Since I haven’t visited northern California in about 20 years, I decided to extend my trip a few days and go up to San Francisco. I am so glad I did! Not only did I do the tourist things like the Golden Gate Bridge and ride a street car, but I got to tour Alcatraz! SO interesting and fun for a true crime fan like me. Also, it was Pride weekend. The Pride parade was right outside of my hotel and the people watching and experience was wonderful!
Then, in July, I went to one of my favorite cities! San Diego! Well, we stayed in Coronado. But it was so wonderful! John and I went two years ago but this year was special because it was for his birthday. That hunky boyfriend of mine turned 30. It was so nice to celebrate with his family, cool weather and multiple date nights.
The last trip I took was back to San Diego/Coronado again. But this time it was just me and my sister. It was her first trip away since Emmy was born and our first time getting to travel together (just us) in years. We hung out at the pool, walked around the beach, ate delicious food and drank yummy drinks. But the highlight of this vacation was seeing Ellen Degeneres! We got to see her perform standup comedy for the first time in 15 years.
She was hilarious! It was such an amazing night (don’t worry, the show is coming to Netflix). We had amazing seats and such a fun time. Then, after we left the theatre and were walking down the street.. WE SAW ELLEN! It was only a few seconds that she walked across the sidewalk and into her car but we managed to get a picture. Holy cow. I was on cloud nine. She looked into my phone people!!! ELLEN! Ellen looked into my phone!!!
Well, now that summer is coming to a close, you can find me in the air conditioning.
No more trips for a minute! But I am already eager to start planning next summers vacations!
